Sierra Leonean music legend Jimmy Bangura, known as Jimmy B, has shared an emotional tribute praising musician Daddy Saj for his loyalty, gratitude, and long-lasting impact on the country’s entertainment industry.
In a touching message, Jimmy B looked back to 1997 in Conakry, Guinea, where he first met Daddy Saj as a young refugee. He described him as energetic, talented, and determined — a young man whose passion pushed him to make a major decision that changed Sierra Leone’s music history.
Moved by the meeting, Jimmy B returned home after the civil war and set up Paradise Records, which later became one of the most influential music labels in the country. Daddy Saj became his first signing.
Jimmy B said Daddy Saj was more than an artist — he was a trusted pillar who helped build the label through difficult moments. He said Daddy Saj stood by him through “highs and lows,” never abandoning the Paradise Family, even when the industry faced serious challenges.
According to Jimmy B, Daddy Saj continued to show respect even in private, often speaking highly of him when he was not around — something he described as rare in a world “full of envy and ingratitude.”
He added that Daddy Saj has been consistent for years, reaching out to him nearly every month and never forgetting the role Jimmy B played in his journey.
Jimmy B ended his tribute with warm wishes, praying for long life, good health, and continued blessings for the celebrated musician.
The message sparked strong reactions online, with many Sierra Leoneans celebrating the bond between the two artists and reflecting on their influence on Sierra Leone’s modern music era.
