The Jamil & Nyanga Jaward Foundation is set to host a Fundraising Luncheon Sale on Sunday, November 23rd, at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown. The event, which begins at 12pm, is themed “Empowering Widows in Informal Settlements: Building Dignity, Hope, and Lasting Change.”
The luncheon aims to raise funds to support widows and children living in slum communities across Sierra Leone. According to the Foundation, proceeds will go towards programmes designed to curb youth drug abuse, discourage unsafe migration, prevent teenage pregnancies, and promote practical skills training.
Guests attending the event will enjoy a day of food, cultural expression, and entertainment. The programme will feature traditional African dishes, talent and cultural performances, hand-crafted cultural materials, and a documentary video presentation highlighting the realities faced by widows in informal settlements.
Ticket categories include Regular (NLe 100), Silver (NLe 200), Gold (NLe 350) and Platinum (NLe 500). The Foundation encouraged the public to either reserve a seat or donate in support of the cause.
The Jamil & Nyanga Jaward Foundation has been working to uplift vulnerable groups, especially widows, through community-centred initiatives. The organisation says this year’s luncheon is part of its continued commitment to restoring dignity and hope to women facing hardship.
Members of the public can contact 073 822 597 or 072 772 64 for reservations, or visit www.jnjf.org for more information.
