The Principal of Saint Francis Secondary School in Makeni, Joseph Ezekiel Thullah Junior, has expressed deep concern over the growing issue of drug addiction among students in schools across Sierra Leone.
In an article shared on social media, Mr. Thullah highlighted that harmful substances are being smuggled into school premises and consumed during class hours. He said this disturbing trend is not only damaging students’ health but also affecting their academic performance and future prospects.
He warned that drug abuse among students has the potential to weaken their academic abilities and derail their ambitions. To address the issue, he urged schools to work together to implement stronger preventive measures, including awareness campaigns and strict policies to stop the trafficking and use of drugs on campus.
Mr. Thullah’s remarks come amid growing national concern about the rise of substance abuse, particularly among young people, in various communities across the country.
