The European Union has launched its 2025 Bus Tour in Sierra Leone, taking what it calls “Team Europe” to communities across the country.

The official launch took place on 29 September in Freetown, led by EU Ambassador Jacek Jankowski, along with representatives from the German and Irish embassies and Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development.
The five-day tour, running until 3 October, will travel to Kambia, Tonkolili, Kono and Kenema districts. The aim is to showcase development projects and highlight how partnerships between Sierra Leone and the EU have improved lives.
The EU says the initiative is part of its Global Gateway strategy, which focuses on building stronger connections and investments in partner countries.
Officials said the tour is designed to tell the stories of people whose lives have been changed through education, health, infrastructure, and other projects supported by the EU.
The EU has described the bus tour as “taking Europe to the people” and reinforcing its long-term partnership with Sierra Leone.
