Lunsar, Sierra Leone – The modeling and pageantry world has a rising star whose passion transcends the runway. Jemiama Hassan Conteh, fondly known as Mia on stage, is a shining beacon of beauty, brains, and benevolence. Born into the vibrant Temne ethnicity, Mia’s journey is a fusion of cultural pride, academic excellence, and an unyielding desire to make a difference in her community.

As a final-year State Registered Nurse (SRN) student at UniMak’s prestigious St. John of God Campus in Lunsar, Mia has donned many hats. She’s not just a student and aspiring nurse; she’s also a leader with a servant’s heart, now setting her sights on the coveted title of Miss UniMak 2024/25. Her dream to hold the crown isn’t about personal glory—it’s a platform to amplify her voice and serve her community.

Mia embodies servant leadership, a rare quality that sets her apart. “Leadership is about service,” she explains. “It’s about lifting others while staying grounded. As Miss UniMak, I hope to inspire action, ignite change, and represent the true essence of our university spirit.”

Her mission extends far beyond the campus grounds. Passionate about public health, Mia is spearheading a Hepatitis awareness project targeting youth in the Bombali and Tonkolili districts. The initiative isn’t just a campaign—it’s a life-changing movement. “Hepatitis is a silent threat,” Mia shares. “Many young people in Sierra Leone don’t realize the dangers they face until it’s too late. My goal is to educate, empower, and encourage preventive measures among our youth.”

From university students to school pupils, club-goers to social enthusiasts, Mia’s efforts touch diverse groups. Her project combines awareness sessions with educational outreach, blending the urgency of public health with the youthful energy she embodies. Supported by a dedicated team of nurses and a public health advocate from UNIMAK, she’s leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of her audience.

In the world of pageantry, Mia is the definition of grace and grit. Her aspiration to become Miss UniMak 2024/25 reflects the essence of a true queen: one who uses her platform to uplift others while carrying herself with dignity and poise. With every step on stage and every word spoken in advocacy, she proves that beauty is more than skin deep—it’s about the impact you leave behind.

Mia’s work is already turning heads, not just in her community but across Sierra Leone. She’s the embodiment of the saying, “The crown doesn’t make the queen—the queen makes the crown.”

As she prepares for the Miss UniMak pageant, Mia remains unwavering in her mission to serve. “The runway is my platform, but the community is my stage. My mission is to make a difference, one life at a time.”

With her dedication, leadership, and servant’s heart, the future shines bright for Mia, a rising star destined to leave her mark.
