Ten law graduates concluded their three-month internship under the guidance of Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the NSA Boss. The interns, who were co-opted to assist in drafting vital regulations and statutory reforms, expressed gratitude for the invaluable experience they gained during their tenure.
The interns were integral to Dr. Abdulai’s initiative aimed at enhancing good sports governance—a key aspect of his comprehensive reform agenda. As they prepared to leave, emotions ran high, reflecting the deep connections formed during their time at the NSA.
Speaking on behalf of her peers, Miss Sylvia Priscilla Princess Sheriff highlighted their accomplishments, stating, “We drafted regulations guiding the conduct of the Sport Development Fund, the Court of Arbitration, and the National Sports Basket Fund. We are grateful for the opportunity that Dr. Abdulai provided us. We will not forget this in a hurry.”
In response, Dr. Abdulai commended the interns for their extraordinary contributions, noting that their work would have cost the NSA thousands of Leones had external consultants been hired. “This job also provided you a unique opportunity to understand sport governance and gain knowledge in sport administration,” he remarked.
Dr. Abdulai expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the interns’ work and congratulated them on their admission to the Law School of Sierra Leone. He emphasized his commitment to an open-door policy within the NSA, aimed at empowering young people—an opportunity he felt was lacking in their formative years.
Intern Sulaiman Gbla echoed sentiments of appreciation, stating, “We are hopeful that one day we will be granted another chance to come again. We will always support Dr. Abdulai in any venture he wants to undertake.”
The National Sports Authority, established by an Act of Parliament, is tasked with promoting, encouraging, developing, and supervising all sports activities in Sierra Leone while addressing related matters.
As these ten graduates embark on their next chapter in law school, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that will undoubtedly shape their future careers in sports governance and law.
