Kailahun, Sierra Leone – In a move poised to enhance local governance, the Kailahun District Council has officially welcomed the rollout of revised Human Resource guidelines, spearheaded by the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) and supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

These updated guidelines aim to boost transparency, accountability, and professionalism across local councils in Sierra Leone, promising to improve service delivery for communities.

Dr. Samuel Gibawo Bayon, Chairman of the LGSC, expressed confidence in the impact of these revisions, describing them as a “game-changer” that aligns with the evolving needs of local governance. He emphasized that the new guidelines would better equip councils to meet the demands of the people, while enhancing operational efficiency.

Chief Administrator of Kailahun District Council, Jonathan Amara Combe, also voiced his support for the changes, particularly advocating for improved working conditions for council staff. He believes these revisions will empower staff members, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively and ensuring that the council delivers the best possible services to residents.

The rollout, backed by the UNDP, underscores the ongoing commitment to strengthening local governance structures in Sierra Leone, which are critical for sustainable development and community well-being.

The revised guidelines are expected to be implemented across various councils in the country, setting a new standard for professionalism and accountability in local government.
