Freetown, Sierra Leone, September 23, 2024 – The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a significant power outage affecting six communities, following an issue with a 33kV incomer transformer at Wilberforce early this morning. According to reports, a loud noise from the transformer caused a disruption in the power supply along the 33kV distribution line, leaving several areas without electricity.

The affected communities include:

  • Part of Wilberforce
  • Regent Village
  • Bathurst
  • Spur Road
  • Entire Lumley
  • Goderich and the Peninsula

EDSA management is working swiftly with the project line construction team to mobilize the necessary materials for repairs and maintenance. The Authority has assured residents that efforts are underway to restore power as quickly as possible.

In a public statement, EDSA expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding during this time. The Authority committed to providing updates on the progress of the repairs.
