In a bold statement at the Presidential Townhall at the Freetown (Bintumani) International Conference Center in Aberdeen, Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, addressed the controversial remarks made by Abdul Kadiru Kaikai.

“It is bad to waste respected titles. I am a Chief, and I don’t know where Kadiru Kaikai got his own Chief title from. Let’s just call him Mr. Kaikai,” President Bio asserted.

“What Abdul Kadiru Kaikai uttered does not represent us as a Party. That’s why we have suspended him, and the Party will scrutinize him and recommend if he still deserves to continue being an SLPP Party member. It is only the Party that has the authority to choose the next leader of our Party and no one else. Let every Party member know this.”

The President’s remarks come after a video surfaced in which Mr. Kaikai threatened to incite violence if he is not elected President in 2028.

In the video, Mr. Kaikai stated, “If I do not become president of Sierra Leone in 2028, I will mastermind and bring a big war in Sierra Leone, far worse than anybody is expecting. I am well prepared and had even budgeted for it. To bring war in Sierra Leone, one only needs 3.3 million United States Dollars to start at Masiaka.”

President Bio further emphasized the importance of peace for national development.

“No nation can develop without peace. Let’s not allow a few idiots to disturb our peaceful nation. As long as I’m in governance, we will continue to make this country very peaceful and governable for our people,” he affirmed.

The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has taken a firm stance against the statements made by Mr. Kaikai, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the country.

Meanwhile, in a press statement issued on Monday, Kadiru Kaikai expressed deep regret over his threatening remarks regarding the 2028 presidential elections.

Reflecting on his statement, Kaikai acknowledged the gravity of his words, admitting they were dangerous, irresponsible, and inappropriate in a democratic society.
