Jonima Diaby: Sierra Leone Writer, Actor excels in Los Angeles

Jonima Diaby was born in Sierra Leone, the son of the Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Guinea during the civil war. His family received asylum in the U.S when he was fourteen years old.

He studied Pre-Med at the University of Texas and worked at the Arlington Memorial Hospital as a Physician Technician, prior to studying at the Meisner Conservatory William Esper Studio in New York under tutelage of the theatre Barbara Merchant and identity school of acting in Los Angeles.

His work as an actor includes appearances on: Counterpart FBI, The upshaws and many more.

His work as a writer, however, has just begun as he is keen on bringing more African stories to life “REMEMBER 92” is his debut in that journey.

This story is dedicated to the lives of Sierra Leoneans far and wide; those who lost their lives as a consequence of the civil war, and those who were displaced.

A story inspired by the lives of Mohamed and Stella Diaby.

Jonima was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He is now a Writer and an Actor based in Los Angeles. He is the Author of the “Amadou Goes To School” series. “Amadou Goes To School” is the first of many more adventures that will find Amadou attempting many more first experiences.

So join along and try something new with Amadou. Beyond Television work, Jonima’s inspiration for writing children’s books comes from being a young kid himself, who found adventure and the magic of being lost in books.
