Sierra Leone’s highly anticipated first-ever blockbuster political drama series, ‘BORMEH (The Dark Cradle),’ stars Christiana Kamara, a renowned actress and producer, as Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic, Mrs. Antonia Wright. The series has received approval for global premieres across three major continents following the release of a 12-minute making-of documentary. ‘Bormeh’ will be premiered in North America, Europe, and Africa between September 2024 until July 2025, setting a global record before its official release.

In a flyer circulated on social media, ‘Bormeh’ is announced to premiere in London (UK), Maryland (USA), Winnipeg, Edmonton (Canada), New York (USA), and Freetown (Sierra Leone). Dr. Isatu Kakay-Diallo, one of the executive producers, expressed her excitement about the series’ release in these three major continents. She hopes that the show will serve as an eye-opener for people to understand the predicament in Sierra Leone, her home country. “ I am very excited as we come close to release of the series.

The series hope to shed lights on the situations in my home country Sierra Leone” Dr. Isatu Kakay-Diallo added.

Fatu Formeh Kamara, another executive producer of the Bormeh Series who lives in the United States, is also excited about the completion and upcoming premiere dates for multiple continents. “This is a big news for my home country Sierra Leone and the entertainment industry as it will give us the opportunities for our work to be recognised on global stage” Fatu Formeh Kamara told Salone Messenger during an exclusive interview online.

This news comes a few weeks after the release of a 12-minute documentary detailing the series’ production. The estimated cost for producing the ‘Bormeh’ series exceeds $50,000

Directed by the dynamic duo of Chernor Kargbo (Stone) and Idrissa Barry Jalloh, and penned by the brilliant Chernor Kargbo (Stone) himself, “The Bormeh Series” transcends mere entertainment; it’s a bold exploration of the gritty realities of life in Sierra Leone. From the sinister machinations of “THE TOP” to the ravaging scourge of the Kush drug epidemic, every episode pulls punches, exposing the raw truths lurking beneath the surface of Freetown.

Director, Producer, Executive Producer and Cinematographer Idrissa Barry Jalloh noted during an interview with  Salone Messenger that over the years, Sierra Leone has been faced with many challenging issues affecting its citizens which he said according to him believes that filmmakers should champion sharing those stories “ I believe as a filmmaker, it is our responsibility to address some of these stories using our voices, tools, and art to raise awareness on the number of challenges we faced as a country “

The series promises audiences an exhilarating journey filled with suspense, intrigue, and dark revelations. Joining her are John Yemi Ade-Coker (Ice Bombo) and Seray Timbo
