During the discussions, Ms. Wakana provided Minister Bah with a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing UN Cooperation Framework process, shedding light on the key initiatives and objectives outlined for the next five years. The framework is set to play a pivotal role in shaping Sierra Leone’s development trajectory, encompassing a wide array of areas crucial for the nation’s progress.

The primary topics addressed in the meeting included national cohesion, forging strong partnerships, formulating effective policy frameworks, and enhancing capacity-building initiatives. Both parties emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the diverse challenges facing Sierra Leone and achieving sustainable development goals.

National cohesion emerged as a focal point of the talks, with the UN and the Ministry of Information and Civic Education exploring avenues to strengthen unity among diverse communities. Recognizing the significance of fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity, the discussions aimed to identify strategies to promote social harmony and cohesion throughout the nation.

Partnerships were another key aspect of the dialogue, with both the UN and the Sierra Leonean government expressing their commitment to fostering international cooperation. The parties discussed potential collaborations with various stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, private entities, and civil society, to amplify the impact of development initiatives.

Policy frameworks formed an integral part of the conversation, as the UN Res Coordinator and Minister Bah deliberated on strategies to enhance existing policies and formulate new ones aligned with the national development agenda. The aim is to create a conducive environment for sustainable growth and address the evolving needs of the Sierra Leonean population.

Capacity building, as a cornerstone of the Cooperation Framework, was extensively discussed during the meeting. The UN and the Ministry of Information and Civic Education explored avenues to empower individuals and institutions through skill development, knowledge transfer, and training programs, thereby bolstering Sierra Leone’s human capital.

The outcome of this high-level engagement sets the stage for continued collaboration between the UN and Sierra Leone in the coming years. As both entities strive to realize the objectives outlined in the Cooperation Framework (2025-2030), the discussions today mark a significant milestone in the journey towards a more prosperous and inclusive Sierra Leone.

The UN Res Coordinator, Ms. Seraphine Wakana, expressed her optimism about the collaborative efforts, stating, “Indeed, pleased to meeting Min @Cee_Bah. We spoke about social cohesion, capacity support to build a professional ecosystem & policy framework, fake news & bottom-to-top communication approach.

Minister Chernor Bah echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in achieving national goals. “Brilliant meeting today with the new Resident Coordinator of the @UNSierraLeone, Madam Seraphine Wakana. We talked public information, civic education, data protection and other policies, peace and national cohesion among others. Excited to take this partnership forward with @MoiceComm,” he stated.

The UN in Sierra Leone Cooperation Framework (2025-2030) is now set to become a blueprint for collaborative efforts, outlining a shared vision for a better and more sustainable future for the people of Sierra Leone.
