Sierra Leone’s football legend Mohamed Kallon has shown interest in becoming the next coach of Liberia’s national team, but his method of application has caused some surprise. According to insiders from the Liberian Football Association (LFA), Kallon did not use the formal channels, but instead relied on “third parties or close friends.”

Kallon’s credentials are impressive, however. He played as a striker for Inter Milan and Monaco, and led Sierra Leone to many regional trophies. He also coached his own club, FC Kallon, to domestic glory.“He has the kind of profile we are looking for,” said an LFA source, sparking rumors about Kallon’s possible appointment. “He has a good chance of getting the job if Sierra Leone does not keep him.”But the source also added that the official coach selection process has not started yet. “We will announce the coach search in 2024,” they said, leaving Kallon’s fate with the Lone Stars in doubt.
