Malakai Bayoh, a young British singer of Sierra Leonean heritage, earned a place in Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals when Simon Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer in response to his stellar performance.
Although just 13 years old, Malakai is already well-known in the opera world, having sung with Aled Jones.
His rendition of Pie Jesu wowed the audience, including his mother and sister, as well as judges Bruno Tonioli, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon
Viewers at home also praised his performance, though some recognized him from previous appearances with a major classical singing star and at the Royal Opera House.
Simon described the routine as incredible and rushed to the stage to congratulate Malakai and send him straight to the semi-finals.
