Captain Kgomotso Phatsima is an inspiration to many. Hailing from a small village called Ledumadumane, located near Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, she went from walking barefoot to school to becoming one of the first female Military Pilots in the Botswana Defence Force. With a Bachelor of Education Science in Mathematics and Physics and a Master of Science (MSc) in Strategic Management from the University of Derby, she also holds a Commercial Pilot Licence from Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, and a Basic Military Flying from the Flying Training School (Botswana Defence Force).
Kgomotso was driven to pursue her dream of flying from an early age, and that same dream led her to found Dare to Dream, a social enterprise dedicated to the advancement of young women and girls in STEM Aviation and Aerospace as well as Entrepreneurship development skills.
“I started Dare To Dream to inspire the next generation, more especially girls and those who grew up in the village like me,” she said. “We use the POWER OF FLIGHT to ignite dreams, to celebrate passion, and give the upcoming generation a sense of purpose in their education.”
Captain Kgomotso Phatsima proves that with dedication and determination, anything is possible.
