Sierra Leone United States Alumni Impact Award 2023, presented to Santigie Bayo Dumbuya by the United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone on 21st January, 2023 is in recognition of the great contributions Santigie Bayo Dumbuya is doing to communities in Sierra Leone.

Santigie Bayo Dumbuya is an Alumni member of the United States Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI ) Emerging Leaders program cohort 1,Nov.2016. Upon completion of the YALI program, Santigie continue his work focusing on young people, children, women and Girls and community development programmes. Over the years, Santigie work and held various positions from various organisations both local and International.

Santigie founded We Yone Child Foundation (WYCF) in 2009 with the vision to ensure educated children and empowered families live in healthy, developed and integrated communities. Santigie decided to focus WYCF’s efforts on Kroo Bay and George Brook. The appalling conditions in these two communities called for action and no other organization was producing results. In early 2019, WYCF scale up activities in three other rural districts (Karene, Port Loko and Tonkolili.

WYCF strives to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families by providing quality education and self-empowerment opportunities. We work in extremely poor slum and rural communities in Sierra Leone, running 3 primary schools delivering education to over 1,000 children, and provide scholarships for students to continue their education including community outreach initiatives focusing on child protection, female empowerment and basic health and hygiene training. School clubs and local community counselling sessions focused on teenage pregnancy, sexual violence and ending child marriage.
