From waitress and flight attendant to commercial airline Pilot
Zimbabwean young lady Precious Sibalo who used to work as a waitress and flight attendant is now a commercial airline pilot.
Precious was inspired to become one after she first saw one during a field trip at the airport.
When she became aware that there were no female pilots around, she was even more motivated to pursue a career that was predominately male.
When Precious became a young mother at the age of 17, she was forced to put her dream on hold. Around that time, her mother passed away as well.
Although she was grieving and she really didn’t want to be away from her daughter, she had to provide for her own family.
Precious moved to South Africa to work as a waitress and a part-time model before moving to Dubai where she also worked as a waitress.
After just 3 months in Dubai, she took an opportunity to work at Qatar Airways as a cabin crew member.
She had been a member of the cabin crew for a few years and was set to advance to senior cabin member.
Instead, she made the choice to begin her training as a pilot in 2017.
She currently holds an Airline Transport Pilot License from 43 Air School in South Africa, which is the highest level aircraft pilot license in the world.
She is currently accruing hours in South Africa in order to return to Qatar Airways as a pilot for their largest aircraft.
