Media mogul, writer, journalist, and content creator Vickie Remoe has launched The VickieRemoePrize for multimedia. The Vickie Remoe Prize highlights emerging journalists and new media content creators for excellence, originality, and creativity. The Vickie Remoe Prize Board selects winners. Winners will be announced every year in April. The journalist cited that she launched this annual grant for media practitioners as she stressed that there are more talents in the country than opportunities as she faced similar constraints during her early years in the field.
With a post on her verified Facebook page, Vickie Remoe stated that the grant will be given to 10 Sierra Leoneans who are into news writing, photography, documentary video, and content creation. As the grants is mainly for Sierra Leoneans all applicants must be residents of Sierra Leone, hold Sierra Leonean citizenship, and have no more than five years of experience as a practitioner. There is no age limit for participation. Women and People Living With disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Near and extended family members of Vickie Remoe are not ineligible.
