Sierra Leonean British Actor, Producer, and musician Idris Elba has team up with Foday Dumbuya design this year’s Commonwealth Games kit which was geared towards ensuring that the kit maintain Sierra Leone’s colors of green, white and blue with wavy lines that draw inspiration from the waves coming back to the land. Expanding on this collection, this design approach was carried over to the Clarks Originals Desert Boot.

2022’s Commonwealth Games came to a close this August with Australia sitting atop the medal table once again. However, the event offered more than a demonstration of athletic prowess from nations as various national kits featured the creative brilliance of each nation’s designers. One such kit that stood out was Sierra Leone’s, designed in collaboration between Idris Elba and Foday Dumbuya, founder of menswear brand Labrum London. The kit emphasizes Sierra Leone’s colors of green, white and blue with wavy lines that draw inspiration from the waves coming back to the land. Expanding on this collection, this design approach was carried over to the Clarks Originals Desert Boot.
The Commonwealth Games is open to eligible competitors of the Commonwealth Games Association of all Commonwealth countries, colonies and dependent or associated territories of a Commonwealth country. Although there are 52 Commonwealth nations, the Commonwealth Games Movement recognises 72 nations and territories.
The games are held after every four years.
Though it’s a sport event, it’s also used as a platform for exhibitions of talents, brands and sporting wears.

Though the Sierra Leone Commonwealth Team did not take home any medal but it’s worth to note that the team was able to wow the crowd during their exhibition.
