LeAnna Roberts, a 16-year-old from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has made history by graduating from high school and college on the same day. Roberts graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Alabama.
Roberts’ journey through college was interspersed with challenges, but she managed to pull through them all with admirable courage and optimism. She held several executive positions in multiple honor societies, which gave her a balanced and well-rounded university experience .
Roberts was able to finish high school early and through dual enrollment, which allows students to take college classes while they’re still in high school, she graduated from Central High School and Shelton State on the same day.
LeAnna’s parents, Lee and Latonya Roberts, are very proud of her achievements. Speaking to Local 12 News, Latonya explained that she was “always excited to hear about her day. Every day was unique, even though certain days were more challenging than others, but she always saw the bright side”.
LeAnna is continuing headstrong to further her education right after her bachelor’s degree. She plans to continue with the University of Alabama to earn her master’s degree through the institution’s STEM Path to MBA program. She is also preparing to take the medical college admission test next month so she can start the application process for medical schools. She is looking into medical schools in the southeast but will be applying to programs throughout the country
