Ms. Fatu Mansaray is young Sierra Leonean activist and blogger with over 5 years of working experience in several fields of youth and children issues. She has been interviewed by several national and international media houses and organization as well as online
Ms. Fatu Mansaray is part of Plan International’s youth network and sits on the guiding group of Transform Education, a youth led network hosted by the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI). The network uses advocacy to bring changes to communities. Fatu believes that transforming education will solve many of the inequalities in her country for example teenage pregnancy. For many years now, she has used her voice to challenge world leaders and local governments to invest in education for all.
In February, Ms. Fatu was appointed GPE Youth Leader by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). GPE youth leaders are young education activists based in GPE partner countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. They are raising awareness of the barriers to education and aiming to increase the ambition of leaders for financing education and development. They are supporting GPE’s financing campaign to transform education systems in their countries and around the world.
For the past few years, Fatu has been serving as Regional Coordinator, Children and Youth Advisory Board for West and Central Africa region of Plan International. Fatu has also been on many international trips representing Plan International and has interacted and challenged world leaders on a number of issues touching on children rights and the involvement of young people on matters that affect them. Currently, Fatu is an intern at Plan International supporting the Youth Engagement, Movements and Campaigns Unit.
