The need for entertainment platforms and branding with the audience of both national and international is growing and becoming more eminent, entertainers and managers of artists want the best platform with huge audiences to promote their artists before shows. The need for this has led to the emergence of so many entertainment bloggers in our country.

Born in Kenema, Abu Bakarr Kanneh is a Graduate of Njala University, He is the CEO and Founder of the Born to Blog (B2B) an entertainment platform dedicated purely for the branding of Events, Companies, Businesses, Stars, and Celebrities of all industries both entertainment and sport. He grew up in a strict home to a Muslim parent that didn’t allow him to participate in any social activities. He spent a 5 to 6hrs every day to study the Quran. Like many of us, Abu loved and wanted to be a Footballer, a vision his family never supported. He had to sneak from home every day after reading the Quran to go to play football which was his dream. Because of his love for football, currently, he managed 5 footballers playing for various clubs in the Sierra Leone Premier League. The Demise of his father the very day he enrolled in his junior secondary school in 2002 set forth a challenging journey.

He attended the Eastern Polytechnic Primary school where he attains his primary school education and letter proceeded to Government Secondary School, Kenema where he completed his Junior and Senior Secondary School Education. He holds a second class honors degree in Accounting from Njala University.

He has worked for Ecobank Sierra Leone, forever living Products International and currently works as the head of Logistics and Procurement for Sierra Leone Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA)

In 2012, he came in contact with Sahr Memphis, who is a great fan of the entertainment industry and is greatly involve in branding and promoting entertainers, they both agreed on supporting and promoting the Sahr Memphis as the brand name, since then, they succeeded in getting contracts to promote brands, artists, and shows. The most recent International contract they got was the promotion of an international Gospel singer based in Liberia Kanvee Adams who was nominated for three different categories in the Afrima award and base on the massive promotion they did for her, she won two categories that very night.  They are the official bloggers for the Zed Zee Multimedia where they successfully handled the first-ever reality TV show Big Sister and are currently working on season two of the Big Sister show which takes place later this year. They have worked with several Sierra Leonean stars based in the diaspora on various projects and all came out as a success. They got over 20,000 followers on Facebook and with over 47,000 followers on Instagram, the name Sahr Memphis became a brand name in the entertainment industry with respect to entertainers, brands, and celebrities.

Early this year in May, they set forth upon themselves a new Journey after years of success stories in the entertainment industry. They decided to go with a brand name that will create opportunities for other bloggers who have shown interest. They both agreed on the name Born2Blog, which represented Sahr Memphis’s Journey and that of many bloggers who had joined the team shortly after their meeting. They currently have over 60 bloggers who are mostly university graduates, with an office space.

In an exclusive interview with the CEO and Founder after recently launched the brand, this was what he shared with us at Salone Messenger.

Tell us about B2B entertainment? (Why and how it operate)

Born to Blog (B2B) is an entertainment platform comprises of pages on various social media platforms like; YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. We also have Online TV shows, News Paper, and Magazine dedicated purely for the branding of Events, Companies, Businesses, Stars, and Celebrities of all industries both entertainment and sport. B2B is an idea developed by myself and Sahr Memphis.

Sahr Memphis is one of my assets in order words I have been his manager for the past 3 to 4 years now and I have enjoyed every bit year of working relationship with him.

Currently, we are into a partnership with the News Watch media house own by Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq. He has provided a studio facility for our online TV and pages on both the News Watch News Paper and Magazine for us to broadcast our shows and branding of projects.”

What inspired you to form this entertainment platform?

”For far too long online promotion has always been a passionate job for my brother Sahr Memphis and boastfully I can say he is the best blogger and promoter this nation can be proud of. So we sat down sometimes back in May 2020 to talk about this ideal and how we can be totally different from others in terms of promotion and branding.

After several meetings, we finally conclude by setting up the following mentions with the name B2B. Our inspiration is based on the fact that we have numerous talents in the country but because the appropriate platform is not available to market them, they are never recognized on the international scene. Think about artists like Drizilik, Kao Denero, Terro D, and many other great talents we have, if the appropriate branding platform is available for them, trusting me you won’t mention Afro beats artists in Africa without naming Drizilik, Markmuday, Morris, Emerson, Abizzy and many more.  Personally, I can compare Kao Denero to any hip hop artist in Africa.

My assurance to them all is B2B is here to brand the good their work internationally.

For the past 10 years, we have been in the promotion industry, the brand Sahr Memphis Blog is a household name to every entertainer. In 2018 NEA nominated us for the best blog team of the year.”

What platforms are you are using to share your entertainment news?

”Like I said before, we have a YouTube account running, an Instagram page with huge followers, a Twitter account, and a sponsor Facebook page with over 20k followers.

We also have an online TV, News Paper and Magazine to brand every project at hand.”

With this current Corona pandemic, how are you keeping on with your entertainment idea and ensuring that you and your team are safe?

”Of course, the corona pandemic has hit every sector in this economy. There were lots of projects we were working on before the outbreak then everything ceased due to government ban. Nevertheless, we are still having some meagre ones to keep us running. Currently, we have a team of 65 passionate bloggers working with B2B and 87% are university graduates.

All necessary precautionary measures set by the government are being adhered to by the entire team and so far we thank God no Corona positive case among us.”

What would be your message to entertainers who are interested in your service and how can they reach you?

”My final message to every entertainer in Sierra Leone is that the time for international recognition through massive branding and online promotion is now through B2B. I urge everyone to make use of this opportunity by contacting us at any time to handle their projects we would assure classic and topmost results.”

Sallu Kamuskay is an activist, storyteller, and blogger. He was born in Sierra Leone but later relocated to Guinea as a refugee because of the war in his country. He uses his phone to engage on social media, under the name ‘’Salone Messenger’. He Co-Founded the Salone Messenger platform after his experience of the war, Ebola, and injustices to tell the Sierra Leonean stories and bring together passionate young Sierra Leoneans to embark on this journey of celebrating individuals, organizations, and expose injustices in the country. According to him, silence was the root cause of war, and of many social injustices, we continue to face as a nation. In 2013, during the Ebola crisis, Sallu took the risk and volunteered to fight Ebola. He spent some months in both safe and unsafe places; helping the victims and telling their sad stories. The election in 2018, left a divided country with communities fighting on tribal lines. This inspired Sallu to serve as the coordinator of the United Sierra Leone peace concert, which was organized in 4 major parts in the country, targeting violent communities and troubled youth. Sallu led a group of entertainers, activists, and organizations across the country on a peace tour, a program supported by the European Union, United Sierra Leone, Africa Union, ECOWAS, and the Messeh Leone Trust. Sallu has also served as a staff writer for the Hidden Voices Magazine. He is currently the coordinator of the United Sierra Leone safe space geared towards making communities where vulnerable children live safe and peaceful by providing safe space, caring adults, and fun activities for children living in vulnerable communities across the beachess.
