LUAWA FC  has just made history after 9 years of existence. The LUAWA FC has been promoted to Sierra Leone Premier League after 9 years of existence

The senior side of the nine-year-old Luawa Football Club established in 2013 and based in the Western Area has sealed a spot in the next Sierra Leone Premier League after defeating Great Scarcies Football Club 1-0 in the semi-finals of the 2022 national division one playoffs.

Luawa Football Club kick-off the journey of reaching the playoffs for the second successive time after emerging as West Zone champions of the Western Area Football Association division one competition to earn a spot in the region’s Super Ten competition and finished as runners-up of the WAFA Super Ten with eighteen points out of nine matches played to progress to the national playoffs.

The SLFA 2022 national first division playoffs featured ten teams as champions and runners-ups of the five regions in the country, Luawa Football Club were placed in the Kenema Zone of the group stage fixtures together with Lamboi FC Edmond Michael Foundation, Bombali Sebora FC and Gulf FC, the “Cacao Boys” progressed to the semi-finals finishing in the second position with seven (7) points out of four matches played registering two wins, a draw against Bombali Sebora FC and suffered one defeat.

Striker Nabieu Navas Daffae’s brilliant finish in the first half of the match at the Makeni Wusum field gives the club promotion to the country’s top-tier league, the first among three teams set to promote in the 2022/23 league season.

Former Sierra Premier League Board Chairman in the 2018/19 season  Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esquire the Chief Executive Officer of Luawa Football Club in 2021 gifted six of his senior players a plot of land each located at the Mama Beach in the Western Area Rural.

Apart from the senior category which is now a Premier League side, Luawa Football Club has also a female team and several youth structures including the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-17 categories respectively
